Jim Moltzan's training started at the age of 16 and has continued for almost 30 years. Twenty-three years of that time has been spent teaching in addition to learning and training in martial arts. During that time, he attended high school, then college, and worked 2 jobs all while pursuing further avenues of learning and self improvement.
18 years ago, he started up an additional business to help finance his next goal of owning my own school. He moved to Florida from the Midwest to make this goal a reality. Now, having had previous ownership in 2 martial schools, he has reached far beyond what he thought to have been his potential. Now, as a husband and father of 2 small children, he has no problem with expressing to an individual that they must be prepared to work hard mentally, physically and financially to earn their good health and well-being; not only for themselves but for their family as well.
The majority of the movements he teaches are of Chinese origin. The core movements are from Kung Fu and its forms in Baguazhang and Ship Pal Gay (Korean Kung Fu and weapons training). Much of the self-defense training is from these styles plus Hapkido and Kong Su (Korean Karate). Each martial art can complement and enhance another. The more ways that use your body the better it is for your overall health.
Jim now continues to teach now because he enjoys doing so and not to earn a living as in years past. This allows the flexibility to teach whomever and whatever he chooses at a pace that is best for the individual seeking instruction.
